Gasly 'trained like a beast' at start of corona period

Pierre Gasly cannot wait to start the new season with Alpine. Where he had the opportunity during the winter break to get a good rest from his last year with AlphaTauri, he told opposite Formule1.nl that he used the time judiciously.

Although the Frenchman felt it was important to spend time with his family and friends, he invested in his body in the meantime. Gasly said he was back in the gym a lot during December and January to get stronger.

Gasly benefits from training

Training, however, has little to do with his move to Alpine. The driver explains that he decided to pick it up at the beginning of the corona period. "I was in Dubai then and started training like a beast, instead of waiting and hanging around for the wait for news of the season start," Gasly explains.

The French driver noticed he benefited once the season started. Indeed, according to Gasly, it is difficult to train much during the race year. "Then training so hard would make no sense, because you can't get in the car with sore muscles."
