The economic impact of the Las Vegas Grand Prix will be huge, projections previously showed. According to Formula 1 boss Stefano Domenicali, the scale of the event can be compared to that of the Super Bowl - but permanently.

On 18 November 2023, the first GP will take place at the new street circuit in Las Vegas. It has a three-year contract, but is likely to remain on the calendar for longer. Indeed, Formula 1 itself has invested a large sum in a piece of land near the famous Strip, where the pit lane and paddock are to be located.

In February 2024, the Super Bowl will also be hosted in Las Vegas for the first time. Unlike the Grand Prix, however, this will not be an annual event: the biggest American football event takes place at a different location every year.

F1 in Las Vegas long-term

"Super Bowl will be for one year, but we’re going to stay for a long time," Domenicali said during Preview Las Vegas. The former Ferrari team boss thinks F1 will have a lasting presence in the city. "We are going to mark F1 in Vegas as a place where we will develop the sport," he adds.

Preparations for the race are progressing steadily, but are unlikely to be completed until just before the first event. "There will be a lot of things that will be ready at the last minute," warns Domenicali. "That’s part of the game. But there is an incredible professionality here that we found in the community working with us."
