Last Saturday, it was announced that Jenson Button will take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. At MotorsportWeek.com the former F1 world champion made some statements about the matter.

"This is my first time back [at Le Mans] since 2018, and I’m really looking forward to it," says the Briton. In 2018, he made his debut in the LMP1 class. Success was then to no avail as the car suffered engine problems that led to a DNF.

Button joins NASCAR Garage 56 along with Le Mans winner Mike Rockenfeller and NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson. This car, a modified Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, is part of a collaboration between Le Mans and NASCAR and is a tribute to NASCAR founder Bill France senior.

Hypercar

When asked if he would like to participate in a Hypercar at the prestigious race, the former F1 world champion replied the following: “Possibly in the future, if there’s the the right situation, I would jump at the chance to jump in an LMH or LMDh.”

This year's 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place on 10 and 11 June.
