Daniel Ricciardo may not have a permanent place in Formula 1 next season, but the Australian is still looking forward to race weekends. In his role as reserve driver, he hopes to find his joy again at Red Bull Racing, while pushing forward his future plans for now.

Ricciardo has quite a history at Red Bull. Indeed, between 2014 and 2018, he was part of the team and took third place in the World Championship twice, among other things. The driver hopes his experience will help him get used to the RB19 quickly in the coming months.

"I expect to feel comfortable in this car," Ricciardo explained to ESPN. "I think it has changed, so I don’t want to think it’s exactly the 2018 car I drove, but yeah I’m sure there will be some things about it which I’m like oh yeah this is now doing what I like."

Future plans Ricciardo still unclear

His position at Red Bull gives him the opportunity to reflect on his future in Formula 1. Ricciardo has expressed on several occasions that he hopes to secure a permanent place again somewhere after this calendar year, although this will not be easy for him.

For now, the driver does not want to worry about his future. "I’m gonna take my time with it, I don’t wanna kind of jump to a decision early in the season," stressed Ricciardo, who wants above all to enjoy his return to the Austrian formation. "I just wanna let it happen."
