A driver's first opponent is his teammate. With exactly the same equipment, your teammate is the one you want to beat first. How do the duels between the drivers stand after qualifying in Australia? Here is the complete overview of all internal duels.

Max Verstappen continued the streak of first qualifying in Melbourne. Not only did Verstappen once again win the duel with Sergio Perez, but it was also the third time in a row that it was by more than three-tenths. George Russell also won the duel for the third time this season. The average difference is over a tenth in favour of the youngest Briton at Mercedes.

Who will win the duel with his teammate?

Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, as do the drivers at Haas, balance each other out after two qualifying sessions. Nico Hulkenberg lost the duel to Kevin Magnussen, although the German will point to hindering Perez. Guanyu Zhou also lost his duel in Australia. The Chinese driver suffered damage in his first qualifying run, which prevented him from achieving a good time.

Fernando Alonso also suffered a knock in qualifying. Aston Martin looked good, but things did not go according to plan for the Spaniard in Q3. The only driver not included was Logan Sargeant. He did not take part in qualifying as he had to give up his car to Alexander Albon.
