George Russell Backs 2026 F1 Rules After Canadian GP Heartbreak
George Russell suffered a painful end to his Canadian Grand Prix campaign but still found reason to praise Formula 1's new 2026 technical Regulations after the race. The Mercedes driver started from pole position yet got away slowly, temporarily losing the lead to teammate and championship rival Kimi Antonelli in the early stages. Russell recovered to pass Antonelli for the lead at the final chicane, putting himself back in contention for a race victory he had looked well-placed to claim. However, his challenge ended prematurely in heartbreaking fashion, cutting short what had appeared to be a genuine fight between the two Mercedes drivers for the win.
