Why did Mercedes left Austria with additional confidence?
Mercedes left the Austrian Grand Prix with plenty to celebrate after George Russell led home a superb one-three finish for the Brackley-based team, while Andrea Kimi Antonelli secured his latest podium in third after an impressive recovery drive. Russell converted pole position into victory with a composed and controlled performance, leading from the front despite relentless pressure from Max Verstappen throughout the race. The Briton managed to build enough of a gap during the opening stint to dictate his own strategy before expertly managing the closing laps as Verstappen reduced the deficit, ultimately claiming his first Grand Prix victory since Australia.
