Maldonado sets fastest time in first practice
Pastor Maldonado set the quickest time in the first practice session for the European Grand Prix on Friday. The Williams driver clocked a time of 1 minute 40.890 seconds around the Valencia Street Circuit edging the Red Bull pair of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber by less than a tenth of a second. Jenson Button, who has been struggling of late, was fourth in the McLaren ahead of local favourite Fernando Alonso in the Ferrari. Force India driver Paul di Resta was sixth followed by the Mercedes of Michael Schumacher.
