Mid-season slump cost McLaren - Button
Jenson Button believes McLaren has been unlucky with its reliability this season, but says the team really lost its chance to fight for the title during a mid-season slump earlier this year. After the first three rounds of the year Button was second to team-mate Lewis Hamilton in the championship, but a series of disappointing results from Bahrain to Great Britain - with the exception of Hamilton's win in Canada - damaged both drivers' hopes. In more recent races McLaren has struggled with reliability problems, but Button says the reason he is not in the title fight in Brazil this weekend is down to the mid-season slump.
