Vettel speaks of 'respect' for Alonso
Sebastian Vettel says he has respect for Fernando Alonso "for the fact that he's fighting" right to the end of the championship. Alonso's second place in Brazil was not enough to take the title as Vettel won the championship by three points as a result of his sixth place finish. When asked if he had any pity for Alonso having come so close, Vettel said he only had respect for his opponent but was focusing on his own achievements. "I respect him as a driver for the fact that he's fighting and he's one of the best drivers we have in Formula One," Vettel said. "But obviously you look after yourself and we were fighting as well.
