Ferrari splits design team to develop next two F1 cars

Ferrari has been working on a programme which will have the Italian team’s design department reorganised into two separate divisions, juxtaposing the development of its next two Formula 1 cars. Regulations for the 2014 season will be drastically changed, which means that teams won’t be able to carry forward most of next season’s development into the following year. As a result, engineer Simone Resta will work on the 2013 car while Fabio Montecchi will deal with the 2014 edition, with both projects to be headed by chief designer Nikolas Tombazis.
