Ecclestone sure of innocence
Bernie Ecclestone insists he is not worried by investigations into the bribery of jailed German banker Gerhard Gribkowsky as he is sure of his innocence. The F1 supremo admitted at the weekend that owners CVC Capital would be forced to get rid of him if he was jailed.
The investigation stems from claims by German state-owned bank, BayernLB, that bribes were paid to Gribkowsky to artificially lower the price of their stake in F1 ahead of CVC's purchase.
The bank feel they missed out on £300m during the sale and Gribkowsky was jailed for eight-and-a-half years in June after admitting he accepted £27m to sell the shares at a deflated value.
