F1 teams cut carbon emissions

The Formula One Teams' Association has revealed that, combined, various members of the F1 paddock managed to reduce their carbon emissions by seven per cent over the past two years.The reduction was achieved between 2009-11 by teams including Caterham, Lotus, Marussia, Mercedes, Force India, Sauber, McLaren and Williams, and follows an externally-audited exercise to set a target to reduce emissions from a baseline of 2009.FOTA tracked the teams' performance against the target, and an audit, conducted by established environmental research analysis organisation Trucost, found that fuel efficiency led to a 24 per cent cut in emissions from their race cars.
