2013 grid youngest in Formula 1 history
13 March, 2013 Rookies: Valtteri Bottas, Max Chilton, Jules Bianchi and Esteban Gutierrez
This year's Formula 1 grid is the youngest in the history of the sport, as a number of young rookies have entered the scene.
That is the finding of Spain's AS sports newspaper, having calculated the average age of the drivers on the Melbourne grid this weekend at just over 27 years.
The statistic has been boosted for 2013 by the retirement of 44-year-old Michael Schumacher, making 36-year-old Australian Mark Webber now the oldest driver in Formula 1.
Also helping is the arrival of youngsters including 21 year olds Esteban Gutierrez, Max Chilton and 22 year olds Valtteri Bottas and Jules Bianchi.
