Maldonado gets new engine for race
Pastor Maldonado's FW35 chassis has been fitted with a new Renault engine ahead of the Malaysian Grand Prix, with Williams discovering piston damage after qualifying. As each driver is permitted to use eight engine units in a season under the current regulations, the Venezuelan will not be penalised for the late change. At future events, however, the removed power unit cannot be used in qualifying sessions or races. Maldonado will start this afternoon's 56-lap race from 16th on the grid, two places ahead of team-mate Valtteri Bottas who was knocked out of the first qualifying phase.
