Pirelli drops softer tyres for Bahrain

Pirelli has announced it will drop soft tyres for the Bahrain Grand Prix, though it insisted it had nothing to do with the troubles faced in China last weekend. The company, which supplies the tyres for Formula 1, said on Wednesday it initially planned to offer three compounds for Bahrain. But a decision was made after the Malaysian GP to use only medium and hard compounds in Bahrain due to the similarities in the two circuits, the warmer temperatures, as well as the desert sand that can 'provoke graining' which reduces tyre grip. The team said the decision had nothing to do with the Chinese GP, where complaints about tyres took centre stage. Some drivers said soft tyres were degrading...
