Chris Pook joins New Jersey GP project
The Grand Prix of America, which is set to debut on the calendar in 2014 with a race on the streets of New Jersey, was given a boost on Thursday with the appointment of Chris Pook to special assistant of chairman Leo Hindery Jr. Pook has decades of experience having founded and managed the Long Beach GP - the first F1 street race in the US - on the streets of Los Angeles. He was also key in organising races in Detroit and Las Vegas. The race, which was postponed until 2014 due to financial troubles, looked to be on the ropes following several key departures from the board.
