2012 winner Maldonado makes Q1 exit
Last year's Spanish Grand Prix victor will start tomorrow’s race from seventeenth on the grid after failing to progress to Q2 for the third time this season.
Maldonado qualified in eighteenth but moves up one place following a penalty to Esteban Gutierrez.
'We’re having a difficult time with the car at the moment, but we have been working very hard to improve things. We were missing a lot of grip which made it difficult to get a good time today,' he said. 'In terms of performance, we’re not there but we will keep focusing on the work needed to move us up the grid.'
Team-mate Valtteri Bottas will start the race from sixteenth place.
