Spanish Grand Prix: Alonso thrills home crowd with a win

12 May, 2013   Fernando Alonso Wins Spanish GP Fernando Alonso got a home victory in Spain and, with Massa finishing third, Ferrari powered both drivers to the podium.  Kimi Räikkönen had to settle for second place for Lotus, and the two Silver Arrows of Mercedes once again lacked race pace as Nico Rosberg (6th) and Lewis Hamiliton  (12th) dropped back into mid-pack obscurity. Red Bull Racing looked strong enough to challenge in many parts of the race but tyre-wear strategy took its toll and by the end Sebastian Vettel could only manage fourth place, with his teammate Mark Webber following in at fifth.
