'German prosecutors charge Ecclestone'
Bernie Ecclestone has been charged with bribery and corruption by prosecutors in Munich, according to a report in Germany's Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper. The Formula 1 supremo, 82, has long been under investigation for his payment of $44 million to banker Gerhard Gribkowsky during the sale of the sport to CVC in 2006. Ecclestone, whose job is said to be at risk, has countlessly repeated that he is not guilty of any wrongdoing in the corruption affair, claiming he was bribed by Gribkowsky to make the confirmed payment, the equivalent of almost 29 million pounds.
