Honda will return to Formula 1 in 2015 as an engine supplier to McLaren, the Japanese manufacturer announced in a press conference on Thursday. The deal means that the British team will end its long-standing association with Mercedes, which began in 1995. “It’s a partnership synonymous with success,” said team principal Martin Whitmarsh who was present at the conference, initiated by Honda chief executive Takanobu Ito.
