Stewart calls for a permanent steward
Jackie Stewart says if F1 decides to implement a penalty points system, a permanent steward needs to be on the panel to ensure fair decisions.
Last week seven of the 11 teams agreed to the system which would give the stewards the power to impose penalty points.
Different offenses would be worth a different number of points and should a driver hit 12 they would be handed an automatic one-race ban.
The proposal still has to be ratified by the FIA's World Motorsport Council and should they give it the go ahead, Stewart says the sport then needs to look into finding a permanent steward.
"I think it's wrong that the FIA have part-time stewards dealing with safety," he told Reuters....
