Bernie: Tyres forcing drivers to strategize
Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone insists Pirelli was asked to make sure tyres don't last too long this year, adding that the current situation forces drivers to "use their brains".
The Italian manufacturer has come under fire after drivers averaged four pit stops during the Spanish Grand Prix last time out with some saying it is making the sport confusing.
Pirelli announced last week that they would change the tyres ahead of the Canadian GP, but the FIA has rejected the proposal as changes can only be made on based on safety corners.
Despite the ongoing criticism, Ecclestone believes the high levels of degradation is forcing drivers to think more about how they will win races....
