Montreal sees Vettel break Mercedes’ qualifying stranglehold
The business end of round 7 of the Formula One World Championship started under the usual backdrop of clouds and rain that we have seen in recent years past at the Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve, as FP3 was shorted not only by the downpour but also due to a major accident just off the main hairpin in one of the support races, which caused the session to be shortened to just a mere 30 minutes.
The 2.7 mile circuit amongst the hustle and bustle of the metropolis that is Montreal, would see whether Mercedes AMG Petronas could secure yet another pole position, and more importantly a front row lock out, or could there be a surprise waiting in the wings, if the weather was to truly play its part...
