Van der Garde gets penalised for British GP
Giedo van der Garde earned himself a five-place grid penalty for the next round after he was found guilty of colliding with a car which was about to lap him during the Canadian Grand Prix. The Caterham made contact with Nico Hulkenberg at Turn 13 after the Sauber was forced to use DRS and full KERS in order to overtake the lapped car despite van der Garde being given the blue flags for a whole lap. “I moved over for him but he turned in front of me in the braking zone and we made contact and that was the end of my race,” van der Garde said.
