Alonso tried to leave Ferrari 'two or three years ago'
– Williams driver Felipe Massa says that new McLaren recruit Fernando Alonso tried to leave Ferrari a few years ago, but was not able to depart the outfit.Massa raced alongside Alonso at the team between 2010 and 2013 before he moved to Williams, while Alonso departed the Italian squad at the end of 2014 for McLaren, having been unable to win a championship with Ferrari.Massa believes that Ferrari has lost a 'fantastic' driver in Alonso, but feels that the void will be filled by Kimi Räikkönen and Sebastian Vettel."I think Fernando tried to leave the team two or three years ago, even when I was still at the team, but he couldn't," Massa told the Official F1...
