Raikkonen falls short after ‘running out of laps'

Kimi Raikkonen admitted after the Bahrain GP that he just missed out on the victory after ‘running out of laps'. Raikkonen finished Bahrain as the quickest man on circuit, having taken on the medium tyres for a long middle stint of the race. This allowed him to push hard on soft tyres for the final 20 laps, catching the Mercedes drivers ahead of him. Nico Rosberg ended up being easy prey, as he ran wide at Turn 1 just as Kimi caught him due to a developing brake issue on his car. Raikkonen pressed on to attempt to catch Hamilton, closing quickly as Lewis also struggled with a brake problem, but Raikkonen ultimately fell short by just over three seconds.
