Hamilton up for BBC SPOTY defence

Lewis Hamilton is in line to become the first person to win two consecutive BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards after being shortlisted for the prestigious accolade once again. The three-time F1 world champion, who defeated golfer Rory McIlroy to win last year's SPOTY Award for the first time, is one of 12 sporting stars being recognised by the BBC this year for achievements over the course of the year. After a dominant win in last year's ceremony, a second win for the Englishman would make him the first sportsperson to win two years in a row since the competition began in 1954.
