Bite-size tech: McLaren MP4-31 sidepod airflow condtioners

McLaren has arrived in Russia with a new set of sidepod airflow conditioners, which now arch over to meet with the sidepods shoulder.   McLaren MP4-31 sidepod comparison Photo by: Giorgio Piola The simplistic design used by McLaren up until now featured a single, vertical airflow conditioner which stood astride the floors axe head and was supported by a spar that connected to the sidepod, inline with the side impact protection spars blister. The new design,follows a similar vertical path to its predecessor but rather than terminating at roughly the same height as the vortex generators, on the leading edge of the sidepod, it is curved over to frame the sidepod, transitioning into the vortex...
