Fernando Alonso will look beyond F1 if 2017 cars aren't enjoyable to drive

Fernando Alonso says his future in Formula 1 hangs on whether or not the next generation of cars, set to debut in 2017, are enjoyable to drive. Next year will see wider cars and wider tyres aimed at producing greater downforce to decrease lap times by around four to five seconds, which team bosses believe will make the cars more challenging and therefore more enjoyable to drive. Alonso's McLaren contract is set to expire at the end of next season and he will therefore get a taste of the new cars before new contract negotiations begin, but he warned that he would look at other series if he no longer enjoys F1.
