De Vries knew F1 seat 'not realistic' despite clinching 2019 Formula 2 title
Despite clinching the 2019 Formula 2 title in dominant fashion, newly announced Mercedes Formula E driver Nyck de Vries knew that getting a seat into Formula 1 wasn't realistic for him, as the Dutchman will now partner up with former GP2 champion Stoffel Vandoorne in FE. In his karting days, De Vries was seen as one of the brightest talents in motorsport, as the now 24-year-old dominated most categories he drove in during his youth. However, life in single-seaters proved difficult, with 2019 being his third season in Formula 2. He had already won three races in 2018 but was pipped in the championship standings by the Formula 1-bound trio of George Russell, Lando Norris and Alexander Albon....
