Daniel Ricciardo McLaren proved a standout performer on the opening day of Formula 1 pre-season testing in Bahrain as Red Bull went fastest and Mercedes struck problems. Max Verstappen banked the fastest time of the day, a 1:30.674, and also recorded more laps than any other driver. Indeed, Red Bull was the most prolific team on track, recording 139 laps – eight more than Alfa Romeo drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi combined.
