'Mercedes wants Albon to cut ties with Red Bull on Williams switch'

Toto Wolff is happy with Alexander Albon' s move to Williams, but there is one small note to add. The Austrian team boss is not keen on Albon remaining 100 per cent linked to Red Bull Racing as Williams will be using Mercedes engines. All tips and tricks would then be in the hands of the biggest competitor and Wolff wants to make sure of that. "It’s one thing about the power unit and I think Albon, as I said, is a driver that deserves a seat in Formula 1", said Wolff on Saturday at Zandvoort. “But it’s tricky to have a 100% Red Bull driver with a Mercedes power unit," the Mercedes top executive stated at The Race.
