Russell ‘past the point of disappointment’ as nightmare continues

George Russell’s 2026 championship challenge is rapidly slipping away, and the Mercedes driver is running out of ways to describe a season that continues to unravel through circumstances largely beyond his control. The Hungarian Grand Prix delivered another painful blow as the Briton’s race was effectively compromised before he had even completed the opening corner. Starting sixth at the Hungaroring, Russell suffered an anti-stall issue when the lights went out, dropping him all the way to the back of the field before eventually recovering to seventh.
