Rosberg tops Austrian GP first practice from Hamilton

Nico Rosberg emerged as the quickest driver from Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton in the first practice session for the Austrian Grand Prix, which returned to the Formula One calendar after a decade’s absence. The championship leader was a tenth quicker than Hamilton while Fernando Alonso was third in his Ferrari, a third off the pace. Rosberg's car was fitted with titanium skid blocks underneath his machinery, which produced sparks, as officials are considering introducing it in the regulations next year to improve the spectacle of Formula One.
