Pirelli concludes Kimi Raikkonen's tyre failure caused by contact

Kimi Raikkonen's British Grand Prix tyre failure was likely caused by contact with 'an external body', tyre supplier Pirelli has claimed. Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel and Raikkonen both suffered tyre failures in the closing laps of the race, and whilst Vettel's was caused by a slow puncture, further investigation into the Finn's failure was needed. Pirelli has now concluded those investigations and found two areas of damage to the 'edge of the belt', which it claims is synonymous with the tyre making contact with an external body, such as another car or debris.
