Alonso: I came back because I felt I was at my best

Fernando Alonso believes that he is at his 'best' and said that he returned to Formula 1 with the aim of winning races and championships. After a two-year absence, the two-time world champion agreed to return to the sport with Alpine for a third spell at the Enstone team. The 39-year-old spent his two years away from the sport competing in a range of prestigious motorsport events including the Indy 500, 24 Hours of Le Mans and Dakar Rally. Esteban Ocon was at the wheel of the Alpine during the first day of pre-season testing in Bahrain, with Alonso set to hit the track later in the weekend, but after the conclusion of Friday's morning session he spoke with the media.
