GeoffandSandy 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2001 The handling of F1 cars is extremely finely balanced so external tampering with the engines output will inevitably produce an out of control situation if a car is cornering near the limit at the time. Think about it, or better still carefully try it in your road car
TotalF1 SamB 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2001 I think it's a bloody dangerous idea as well! The Safety car is all part of the spectacle, and the way it bunches up the field is great - all part of the strategy, and it adds more overtaking to the race...electronically limiting the engines whilst flags are being waved is ludicrous! jagman 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2001 yeah, when i first read about it, i thought 'man, that sounds very dangerous'. Imagine if the FIA have as much trouble with this very complicated system as the teams are with launch control, we will probably see the cars increase speed instead of slowing down in the trouble spots... GeoffandSandy 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2001 And imagine the controversy over the distance vs time thing. Half a second at full speed is about 40 meters while on exiting a corner it is about 10 metres so do they maintain time or distance? Protests either way
