Maybe the "new members' (self included) feel a little overawed at butting head with the hmmmm 'experts' - its good to see what you have to say but doesn't always mesans we can contribute - especially if we have our own favourites ( DC fan - sorry!) and get a little bugged by all the raves about the leaders. - Just my humble opinion!

I understand where you are coming from. And for me it is just timing that I am a fan of the leaders, I have been a Schumacher Fan since 1994 he was not a champ at all then, and a Ferrari fan since 1991, they were doing pretty poorly then. So don't think I am a follower of the leaders.

Similarly with Jens he is Finnish so (I assume) than is why he is a Mika / Kimi Fan. Also he respects what Senna acheived and Mika + Kimi drove for McLaren so that contributes (I think) to why he is a McLaren Fan. So again it is a matter of timing.

But please join in people this forum has changed some of my views there is no reason the 'new members' cannot repeat that.

Yea definitely, this forum has enlightened me on a whole lot in F1 and changed a lot of my views on different things. Nichosnz got it pretty much right, being Finnish I am really a fan of the Finnish drivers. Salo is at Toyota so Im hoping they do well (but also because I would like to see a new good team in F1), while Mclaren has had Hakkinen, Raikkonen, and Rosberg behind the wheel of its cars so it is the main reason why I support them.

Senna is who got me to know about the sport when Hakkinen outqualified him and it was all over the Finnish news. But everyone is welcome to support whomever they want, there is no law here that says otherwise

I fact I would encourage fans of other drivers to come and stir us up a bit. Especially DC or EI the two we have the most to say about.

well for my two cents worth.. I did meet M.S. when he was in F3 years back . I think 1986 in the Uk and he impressed me as a driver then. no name dropping s##t just fact as I was working for RALT at the time.. Also met Roberto Marino a great guy very talented, but like so many no sponsorship money to make the REAL big time. and this is not a load of B.S ayrton Senna and me flew model aircraft along with many others in the infield at Silverstone between Saturday Practise and Sunday Race day, he was an EXPERT at competition Model Aerbatics left me in AWE :-)

Excellent! Must have been great to meet those people, the closest Ive come is when I saw Hakkinen on the streets of Helsinki this summer along with Mika Salo. You could spot them from a kilometre away, with a huge mass of people just moving in unison

But indeed as nichosnz said, it would be fun for people with different opinions to stir things up a bit, feel free to say ANYTHING!

My uncle once had a chat with Keke Rosberg over business matters in the early 90s, never ever shuts up about it. Brags the whole time! Ive met my fair share of hockey stars though.

True talent doesn't stroll the street in NZ. We even have people as celebraties just because they own a successful business, we are that celeb starved.

Hahaha! Not too unfamiliar for myself, Finland wasnt too big on anything 10 years ago (funny to think, now they are a top top major player in wireless and technology stuff) and people such as the local rich guy were constantly interviewed in magazines and such!

Heheh, it is common in Finland for people to not want too much interest in themselves, make something excellent they did not seem so excellent. In public that is, among friends its an entirely different story

That's just it, I dont. Right now Im in the process of countring days till I get to go back to Finland around Christmas time, 89 days left. That is really the one thing I hate most about being here, the general arrogancy and American attitude towards things just doesn't really make me enjoy it here. Not everyone is like that, but the stereotype is mostly true.

Hehe, the plane flies straight up north and goes over Canada, so only about 90-105 minutes of the 10 hour flight to Amsterdam is over the States. Odd thing, because it takes 6 hours to fly coast to coast in the States, but only an additional four hours if you were to fly west coast to Europe. NY to Europe is another 8 I believe.
