JB: WE'RE NOT QUICK ENOUGH

Jenson Button branded his BAR-Honda "not quick enough" after ending the second free practice session for the Brazilian Grand Prix 17th fastest.

The Briton said that although he expected his car to improve in time for qualifying, there was much work to be done to get it to where he wanted it to be.

"Today has been a pretty tough day for us," he said.

"We've done all our tyre work and know pretty much where we are with the tyres but at the moment we're just not quick enough.

"There's a lot of work to do tonight to move the car forward."

"The biggest issue is that it feels like there is quite low grip on the circuit.

"We struggled a little with grip levels in both sessions and the balance isn't perfect either, however we can work with the car tonight and try to improve it for tomorrow."

The team believes that Button and team-mate Takuma Sato's lowly positions in the second free practice session were "unrepresentative" however because the times were set on old rubber.

It expects to strike back in qualifying on Saturday.

BAR pointed to Sato's morning pace (the Japanese driver was second quickest) as a guide to what it is capable of this weekend.

"The car performed well today," said Sato.

"In the second session we concentrated on the race situation and we also compared the two tyre options to help our choice this evening.

"All of our programme was completed and although we need to work on improving our pace for tomorrow, it was generally a good day."
