Valentino Rossi To Move To F1?

Recommended Posts

looks like its not gonna happen now because of the sponsors  damn smokers, why down't we just get rid off tabacco sponsors for all races so they won't be on cars i find that a smart thing to do :D

I really hopw that Rossi doesn't let the F1 test go by him just because of the ads on his car. I really hope he doesn't, or then as an alternative I hope BAR agrees to just take the ads off for the test at least.

semily off topic........but i just read recently that Rossi will be driving for Peugeot in the rally of Great Britain at Wales!!!!!!!!

MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi, the fastest thing on two wheels, is to compete in next month's Rally of Great Britain. The flamboyant champion will be driving a Peugeot 206 with Carlo Cassina as his co-driver in the November 14-17 event.

"I'm taking this rally seriously," said the flamboyant 23-year-old.

"I know that this British leg is hard, so just to finish will be a huge thrill for me."

At the weekend Rossi was tight-lipped about rumours suggesting he might switch codes to Formula One.

"I don't know about Formula One. I don't tell of any plans," he said in Japan.

Yep, Rossi has done the Rally of Champions in the past years and proven himself so it will be interesting come November 14th when the Network Q rally kicks off. I for one cant wait to see how he does with the Grifone 206, the Grifone has run well at recent rallies...

Yip - I'll keep my eyes open for that one. I reckon if he makes it to the finish then he could actually be quite high up in the placings... Well hoping he is anyway :P .

A Grifone finished fifth at San Remo with Bruno Thierry at the wheel, so Rossi could do well. Wonder how many eyebrows it would raise if he were to score points!

A lot I Think.... I think that suddenly that F1 drive wouldn't be to unrealistic in the near future then.

Well Rossi has said on numerous occasions that he considers the rally drivers more skilled than their F1 counterparts, something that I must agree with in terms of car control. But track racing is completely different from rally.

Anyway Rossi would probably more likely move into rally according to reports, if he were to double his tyre count.

I think Rossi turned the BAR test offer down due to his anti tobacco views, apparantly also HRC had to turn down a possible cigarette sponsorship deal because he doesn't andorse smoking.

As for making the switch i wouldn't think he'd be any good, as someone said he has done the Race of Champions or whatever it's called in the Grand Canneries (or however it's spelt) but he only did alright. He's a great bike rider i don't reckon that will make him a great race driver. Over time yes he could become good, but there are so many good drivers who have dedicated their life to car racing what makes you believe that he could be better than them. I agree he is a great character and F1 needs characters which is why i would LOVE to see Helio in the sport. But then they had Zannardi a while back and the sport crushed his personalitty, F1 really doesn't allow characters anymore. As it's too political etc... they get fined for if they do donuts on the roll down lap etc... if they do anything out the ordinary they get in trouble, they need to lax up on all that i reckon.

Also i saw someone mention the football team photo Rossi staged, that actually happened in Rio de Janeiro where Rossi wrapped up the title. My favourite this season has to be the traffic cop sketch.

I don't know bout anyone else but i'm looking foward to seeing Christiano in F1 next year i know he is quieter than Helio but he does say he is there to win not to make up the numbers and also he has already claimed look i don't really care about F1, i'm not in awe of it, it's just another formula sort of thing. So thats cool makes a change and hopefully he should do quite well, will be interresting to see, what do you reckon?

It most certainly will, be interesting to see someone who views F1 as just another series. He will drive with a different attitude, and I'm hoping that will show.

And its always fun to make the comparisons, Montoya made a successful move as did Villeneuve, while Zanardi failed pitifully. How will da Matta do? Hopefully in the Villeneuve-Montoya category, I'd like to see a bunch of drivers battling for a championship soon..
