HUGE shunt for McNish

Recommended Posts

HUGE shunt for McNish, that was simply HUGE! Thank god he didnt go in nose first, because that would have smashed his legs - just look at the amount of damage on the much sturdier rear end!!

Excellent safety in F1 though I think had he gone in the other way there would be a lot of problems right now..

well it just shows how much STORED energy these cars have even though they are miniscule in actual weight, but weight combined with speed they are LETHAL, like splitting the barrier fences, that does take some doing !!

Yeah, that is true, but then I did read somewhere that the honeycomb carbon fibre structure that they implement shrinks to 30% of its length and absorbs at least 90% of time impact. Not to mention that the drivers legs extend only upto 30% usually under the nose cone.

But then he hit the wall at over 150mph at least, and the front of the car only has the front suspension before the drivers legs start a few inches later. Im thinking of Panis in Canada during the 97 season..

That isn't a very fun way to end your season, not even mentioning that it may be his last F1 race :( Hope the best for him though, maybe he will make the successful switch back to Le Mans..

I think he could still be in F1 next year if some things happen. Should for example Arrows somehow make it back to the grid, then he would be there I believe, and maybe even at Minardi..
