Recommended Posts

Did any of you catch the CART race in Surfers Paradise? The crash at the start was huge, the drivers couldnt see a thing in all that rain!! Take a look at these three clips from the crash, the onboard with Andretti is astounding!

It was a very odd race, I didnt watch the whole thing as it got boring watching the cars follow the pace car for 36 laps. And they were going slowly, but the drivers were still telling the safety car to slow down as they couldnt see a thing! From the Andretty onboard cam the car infront only came into view a few metres before impact. I would say the rain was worse than Malaysia 01 or Spa 98.

well, it took ages to come thru on my 33k connection (no comments)

but when they came thru,:ph34r::o

that onboard shot on Andretti, he went straight under him, reminded me a bit of wen Alez Barron went on top of Bryan Herta, Laguna Sega??

and the trackside shots :o Takagi went flying, wow,

THANK you all the safety ppl who design the cars, u guys just saved 2 lives..

Yep certainly quite astounding, especially being there!

This race put Australia on the motor racing map, but for all the wrong reasons.

The shortest F1 race in history was also in Australia, Adelaide 1991 24m 34.899s (14 laps) won by Ayrton Senna. This was stopped by extremely bad rain also, much worse than Belgium 98 or Malaysia 01.

For a reference the fastest lap was a 1m41 vs a pole lap of 1m14
