Ok I wondered about this first with Rubins getting permission not to use one. Then the incident happened with poor Justin Wilson because of his. When I was watching the replay and DC broke down, it looked to me (not that I'm an expert lol) like he started to stand up then sit back down to unhook his.

I think it's great that they are trying to protect the drivers better, but aren't there times when getting out of the car quickly is most important? If something would have happened to Justin and he needed out of the car quickly, what would they have done? Does anyone know if they are rethinking this or am I making too much of the whole thing?

Apparently Rubens used it all Friday and Saturday with difficulty, and was advised not to wear it by Sid Watkins. They plan (hope would be a better word) to have it sorted by Brazil in a week and a half. I noticed with Panis but not with DC, but definitely it poses some hazard in that regard as well.. I think it is odd that this isn't a bigger issue with the entire thing, but then probably in a rush to get out of the car a driver has a subnatural knowledge of everything to do..
