F1 Super licence

It used to be at one time you had to earn a F1 super licence, but now it seems you can buy one? who is the person or persons who decide this. excuse my ignorance on this matter, could someone enlighten me?!!! :?

No way can you buy one Hahah, you have to earn it and prove to the FIA that you can drive one of the cars safely. You have to have completed at least 300km testing and have some kind of credentials (be it from testing or other racing) to be granted one.

I think what jbbar is saying is that now with the new friday testing rules any man with a fat wallet can drive an F1 car and I am pretty sure (though not 100%) that these 'friday testers' do not have to have a proper F1 Superlicense.

i think superlicense is only for races, for the safety of the other drivers.

I think that any driver to be able to drive a F1 must have a certain amount of kms done before they can get into a F1 car.

The third driver I think, has to be either a F1 driver with less then 6 months experience in F1 or from another motorsport but also with a lot of experience. Otherwise it would be too costly for the teams to put anyone that has no experience and brake the F1 car apart. That would be too much of a responsability for Fia.
