Ascanelli joins Brembo as technical chief

Giorgio Ascanelli will join Formula 1 brake supplier Brembo as its Chief Technical Officer in February, marking his motor racing return after leaving Toro Rosso last summer. Ascanelli started his motorsport career with Ferrari back in 1985, before moving to Abarth, Benetton F1 and McLaren F1. In 2002, the Italian stepped up to the role of Technical Director of Maserati Corse, overseeing the development of the MC12. In 2007, Ascanelli returned to F1 by becoming Toro Rosso's technical chief. He held this post until the midway point of the 2012 season, when he was replaced by James Key.
