The new WRC season started this weekend with Rally Sweden with lots of snow. This year, the cars have gone through a big change, the cars being now S2000 spec.
Not terribly surprisingly, Mikko Hirvonen, driving for Ford, won the event. The race was a great success for Ford, as the podium was filled with fellow Ford drivers Mads Östberg and Jari-Matti Latvala. Defending WDC Sebastian Loeb finished 6th (suffering from 2 blown tires) and Kimi Räikkönen was 8th (he also suffered of a punctured tire).

I like the new spec cars.
I think this year could be one of the best in a long while for WRC with everyone having to adjust to new cars. I think it's too close to call on who'll be champion, I think the usual suspects will be up there as ever, but already we've seen quite a shock with Ostberg performing brilliantly. Doubt anyone predicted that result for him.
