  1. D O D Japan

Kobayashi without any doubt. He drove a car with damaged front wing and sidepod and was still going at the same pace of the Mercedes duo, even a little quicker. Not to forget that he was A LOT quicker than his team mate and the Williams of Barrichello. And in his first stint he also managed his hard tyre set very well. Even Kubica has said he was impressed...this guy deserves more than a Sauber next year. Sauber needs money, Kamui needs a competitive car. Renault?

  3. Porsche Looking At F1

As a PR I'd suggest they'd rather chose to build a full team as Porsche main rival (Ferrari) has got a full team (and one with a lot of history behind), so, from a marketing point of view that would sound logical. As Audi they'd probably go for an engine supply, which is less fascinating but more likely for the brand. Main market rivals Mercedes and Bmw both entered F1 as engine suppliers and despite the first marque has now built its own team (but we must not forget that this is to be considered a revival of the 1950s squad), the latter had decided to keep the Sauber name when they bought the Swiss outfit. But, as everyone knows, F1 is not often as logical as it seems.
  4. Schumacher'S Helmet

Doesn't anyone think it has little to do with Mercedes new livery? Dunno why he did keep this version. I hoped for a return to his original white plus german flag design. Note the the full red helmet was originally designed as a tribute to Ferrari.
  5. 2010 Prediction Thread

WDC: Hamilton WCC: McLaren Race winners: Hamilton, Button, Alonso, Schumacher, Rosberg and Kubica McLaren has started developing their contender early in 2009 and they've already admitted their 2010 car in basic setup is already faster in the windtunnel than the late 2009 spec that was a dominant force in the last few races. My bet is on Lewis clinching the title with few points over Button. Third will be Alonso with two or three wins, ahead of the Mercedes of Schumacher and Rosberg (1 win each?). Sixth will be Kubica in the Renault, another team that started working on 2010 early last year. I expect a win from the pole in 2010. Massa will be seventh and the disappointment of the season, having been destabilized by Alonso at Ferrari. I also don't expect Red Bull to repeat their 2009 form due to the uncertain situation regarding their engine supplier that has probably frozen the development of the back of the car until december.

  8. Forget about Kimi or Nick. Not to mention Michael... According to latest rumours from gpupdate.net, Mercedes Gp 2nd driver might be a rookie. The team is about to test Indycar's Mike Conway (but he's unlikely to get the nod imo, given his CV he is probably going to be considered for a testing role) and Japanese F3 Champion Marcus Ericsson. Ericsson is 19 years old from Sweden and is part of Mercedes Junior Program. He also impressed many during his few outings in british F3 and at the recent Macau Grand Prix, where he set the pole position. 9. Kobayashi To Renault?

PAnasonic and Kddi arrival would also push Megafon and Megafon partner Nokia out of the picture as title sponsors...As Panasonic is a straight competitor for Nokia and so is Kddi for Megafon even if the two companies are from different countries... This would leave the russians hungry as Ecclestone admitted they were looking to buy into an existing competitive F1 team...Which side they will look at then? Errr...Qadbak Sauber?

  11. Kobayashi To Renault?

According to earlier rumours, Renault is willing to remain in F1 until 2012 just if the team could be entirely financed by sponsors, allowing the french marque to keep his presence in the sport according to the Concorde Agreement but without spending a single penny. That's probably why they are considering selling shares in the team to main sponsor Megafon, who would also bring Nokia on board as a team sponsor. But now it is suggested the situation may change due to the help of fellow carmaker Toyota who might be keen to pass their title sponsor contract with Panasonic over to the Enstone based squad. This would come in exchange for Renault appointing japanese rookie Kamui Kobayashi as Robert Kubica's team mate. I've heard this story from a motorsport journo here in Italy. And now rumours are also appearing on the net...(SEE F1live.com 4 example)

  13. Rosberg To Mercedes For 2010

Well...as you said it's not goin' 2 be Schuey... But Haug said it will be a surprise. To me it's Kubica. They are probably tryin' to reach an agreement with Renault on the matter. It makes a lot of sense. He's strong, he's young, he's cheap and he was a Mercedes driver in F3. According to rumours Renault are going to sell a 30% share in the team to title sponsor Megafon to finance their season. This would allow Robert move elsewhere, while Megafon would bring in commercial partner Nokia as another team sponsor. This would clear the way for a line up made of Heikki Kovalainen and russian driver Vitaly Petrov, the Gp2 Series vice champion who would be very appreciated by Megafon. So my bet is on Rosberg and Kubica to Mercedes, Heikki and Petrov to Renault and Kimi to take a sabbatical.
