Michelin confirm Sauber talks

Tyre supplier considering taking on new team

Michelin's competition director Pierre Dupasquier has confirmed yesterday's speculation the French tyre supplier is 'talking' to Formula One team Sauber.

The Swiss outfit is reportedly unhappy with their Bridgestone product, developed almost exclusively for Ferrari and a 'weakness' over a single qualifying lap.

Sources report that Michelin is willing to do a deal for '05 but only if Japanese-owned Toyota completes a rumoured switch to Bridgestone rubber.

Dupasquier told Italy's 'Gazzetta dello Sport' that under certain circumstances, it would not be a problem if Bibendum added 'one more team' to the F1 project.

Correction: It would be a problem. FIA regulations state that the tire company can supply up to 60% of the field, so who are they gonna drop if they want Sauber?

I just thought of something...Bstone is Japanese, why not have a japanese tire company with a japanese car company? It would be an all out Japanese effort...
