Strains in Woking?

The Woking News and Mail is reporting that 48 jobs may go at McLaren because of uncertainty over the future of a new concept car called Project 8. The new car has been frozen by McLaren and Mercedes-Benz because of "challenges currently faced by the global automotive industry". This is interesting given the plans for the new car, which aimed to take the McLaren name into a bigger role in car production, following up on the SLR. There have been rumours for some time that there have been stresses and strains between McLaren and Mercedes since the new management took over at Mercedes-Benz in the autumn.
